ABOUT
Meet Kelsey
It’s me. Hi, I’m the fun aunt, it’s me.
How it Started
In 2012, a few months after I graduated with a graphic design degree, my friend and I decided we wanted to watch Titanic on its 100th anniversary. To commemorate such an event,
we decided a special themed menu was in order
(including some fancy sparkling grape juice!). Simply by adding the extra touch of a custom menu, we made the moment unforgettable.
A few years later, I decided why not take that concept and apply it to my nieces and nephews with movie nights focused on their favorite movies?
The Creation of the Purple String Boxes
In 2017, after making my nieces and nephew a special photo book the previous year, my family was curious how I could top it. Thus, Christmas Boxes (now Purple String Boxes) were born. What I thought would be a one time thing, has turned into a Christmas staple (with over 50 boxes and counting!) that our family looks forward to every year…and cementing my title as “best aunt ever”!
What's In a Name?
In 2012, months after the very first movie night, I began my journey as a paraprofessional in a PreK classroom. Soon Christmas came and I found myself excitably on the receiving end of the gift giving. While I received incredible gifts that year (if you’re reading this: thank you!), I noticed one girl with a sad look on her face. She explained that she had no gift for me and all she wanted to do was make me happy. Right in the gut. No amount of convincing could make her believe me when I said her smile was the best present. All of a sudden, I witnessed the biggest lightbulb moment as she raced toward her book bag with a huge smile across her face. She reached in and pulled out a purple string from a present I had just helped her wrap for her family the day before. This was all she had to give and she was going to give it with all her heart. Needless to say, no gift has ever topped it.
Since then, I have adopted the mission of giving with all my heart. Sometimes that means doing big things, but most of the time it means doing small things with big love.
Making memories with your children (or nieces and nephews, etc.) doesn’t have to require big things, just big love. And I would love to help make that task easier and way more fun!
What's Next?
It’s been a journey from the very first movie night to here, but I am so excited to bring you along for the ride teaching you all the little tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Whether you want to be the fun aunt or cool mom (or anything in between!), I’m here to help you earn that title!
